Who runs the Hub

The V-Choux Hub is run by V-Choux Labs. If you have a question about your data, or you want it removed, write to hub@vchoux.com and a person will answer.

What we know about you

When you sign in with Google we receive your email address, the name on your Google account, and the address of your profile picture. We store the picture address but we never load it, so opening a page on the Hub does not tell Google you were here.

You can add a nickname and a time zone. Your reading settings, nine of them, are saved so they follow you on every device.

A few things are recorded automatically when you sign in: the date, the address you connected from, and which browser you used. They exist so that a break in can be reconstructed, and nothing else.

The cookies you earn on the Hub are kept as a list of what happened, not as a total. Your balance is the sum of that list.

Why we keep it

Your email and your Google identity are how we know it is you. Without them there is no account.

Your nickname, your time zone and your reading settings exist because you asked for them, and you can change or clear them whenever you like.

The sign in records exist to keep the Hub safe. This site was rebuilt after the previous one was broken into, and being able to see who signed in from where is part of not repeating that.

Cookies

Two cookies, both necessary, neither used to follow you anywhere.

One holds your session, so the Hub knows you are signed in. It lasts seven days and it goes away when you sign out.

The other holds your reading settings, so the page looks the way you chose from the very first paint, even before you sign in. It lasts a year. It is technical, so it does not ask for consent.

No advertising cookies, no analytics, no third party scripts. The fonts are served from the Hub itself.

Who else sees it

Nobody. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no analytics service reading over your shoulder.

Google knows you signed in to the Hub, because you signed in with Google. That part is between you and them, under their own policy.

How long we keep it

Your account stays as long as you want it. Sign in records are kept for a limited period and then dropped.

When you ask us to delete your account we clear the things that identify you, in one go. What stays is the record that you accepted these documents, because that is the proof we followed the rules, and the anonymous count of the cookies you earned.

What you can ask for

You can ask to see what we hold, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to receive a copy of it. Write to hub@vchoux.com.

If you think we are handling your data badly and we have not fixed it, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

When this changes

If we change something that matters we will publish the new version here with a new date, and ask you to accept it again. Small corrections we simply publish.
